We are two fourth graders and we researched California & Hawaiian Islands.

If you come to visit California you’ll need…
* Sunscreen
* Bathing suit (beach supplies)
* Camera /autograph book (in case of sighting movie stars)

If you come to Hawaii you’ll need…

• Hula skirt (to dance like a Hawaiian dancer)
• Helmets (in case of falling coconuts)
• Beach supplies
• Camera (to take photos of the hawaiian beaches and beautiful things)

If you visit Colorado you’ll need…

• Skies
• Camera (to take photos of the Rocky Mountains)
• Winter thing (like

In California, Hollywood is a great place to see movie stars. The man made wonder is the golden gate bridge in San Francisco.

Hawaii has 8 islands & out of 6 islands people live on them.

Hawaii is the most popular islands because Honolulu’s has the biggest population

  • Hi our names are Aleysia and Kabir we are fourth graders at the M.L. King School. We are studying the region Southwest. We are studying the states Texas and New Mexico.
  • If you are planning to travel to these two states please PACK the following items.
  • *Spanish dictionary because many residents speak Spanish and you could take a day trip to Mexico.
  • *Remember your sunglasses and sun block because it’s hot down there!!!!
  • *Bring Pepto-Bismol because the tacos and barbecue food are hot and spicy!!!
  • *Don’t forget your first aid kit because there are vicious animals down there!!!

    Remember to bring these things or else you will have an unpleasant trip.

    Hi, We are fourth graders at the King School. We have been studying the Southeast region of the USA.

    We learned a lot of history about Georgia, Louisiana, and Florida.
    M.L. King, Jr., who our school is named after, was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Ponce de Leon discovered Florida on Easter in 1513. Florida means flower in Spanish, Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. They are still rebuilding.

    Do you like peanuts? Well you should live in Georgia. They produce 1-½ billion peanuts a year! Wow that’s a lot of peanut butter. If you’re interested in juicy, fresh squeezed orange juice, travel to the “ Official Orange Beverage Juice State” Florida. But if you love SPICY food, try Louisiana’s gumbo.

    Hello Everyone,

    We are fourth graders studying the Northeast Region of the USA.
    Do you want to hear some interesting facts of New Jersey and Washington, D.C?

    Well, DC is not only the country’s capital, but it also has the Ford’s Theatre, which is the theatre where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. Can you believe it; you can actually see the pillow where Lincoln laid his head and the bloodstain! Washington D.C is named in honor of George Washington and Christopher Columbus, (because of D.C, which stands for District of Columbia.) And don’t forget to try to take a tour of the White House. You don’t want to miss all the important rooms! Washington D.C. is an awesome place to visit. Did I mention, D.C. is the home to 626,000 people and has the American Beauty Rose as its flower? You got to go there for summer vacation!

    New Jersey is called the Garden State. It’s state animal is the horse. The capital city is Trenton. The state flower is the purple violet and the state bird is the golden flinch

By choosing one state to study within each region, students have learned about the incredible variety of places and people in our country. 4th graders are creating Power Point presentations to tell others about what they’ve learned, but we wanted to be able to share their new knowledge with a broader audience.

    Today we read some of Buster’s Postcards from around the country, and learned about blogs, bloggers, posts and commenting. We’re eager to start an online conversation of our own, about the regions of the USA. Stay tuned for new posts from our guest bloggers!

Laurie Ferhani’s science classes visited & documented ecosystems around Boston including Deer Island, the Charles River, and Black’s Nook Pond. While it’s great to have information for ourselves, it’s even better to share the wealth, and that’s just what students have done with their “Boston Ecosystems” wiki.

    A wiki is an expandable set of webpages that can be written and edited by anyone. Yes, anyone! Our wiki limits editing privileges to “members” (our students), but anyone can view the pages online. Students got an overview of the world of wikis, but most of the learning happened when they jumped in and started creating.

    Students wrote individual articles & experimented with formatting text & saving their pages. Learning to use the (sometimes finicky) Wikispaces template was no easy task, but the pioneers displayed typical courage & determination and pressed onward.

    One goal of using wikis is to share knowledge through a collaborative writing & editing process. The students have recently combined their individual pages (me) into group-written & edited articles (we) that synthesize and communicate the information students have gathered.
